FWD Insurance (FWD) celebrated its 10th anniversary in June with the launch of a community care initiative in Macau. The company has realised outstanding business performance in Macau, with a year-on-year annual premium growth rate of 214% in 2022, ranking first in the Macau insurance market.

While FWD remains steadfast in its mission to change the way people feel about insurance, the company recognises that an essential part of this involves caring for local communities. As part of its community care commitment, FWD Macau has partnered with Caritas Macau to empower people with disabilities by providing vocational training that equips them with the skills they need to develop an online sales platform and physical stores for selling handicrafts.

As FWD’s community care initiative with Caritas Macau kicks off, service users will be provided with vocational skills training in areas like marketing, logistics management, website management and data analysis. They will also be given the opportunity to put these skills into practice through multiple sales platforms.

Jason Wong, Assistant Vice President and Head of Macau, FWD, said: “Over the years, FWD Macau has grown together with its customers and stayed focused on providing diverse protection solutions for all. We are delighted to be partnering with Caritas Macau to enhance the sense of accomplishment and self-esteem of people with disabilities through the sale of their products. Establishing multiple promotion and sales platforms will help them become more financially capable and protected, allowing them to live fuller lives. FWD Macau will continue to uphold its vision of changing the way people feel about insurance and be a force for good in the community.”

Paul Pun, Secretary-General of Caritas Macau, said: “We are very grateful for the support towards Caritas Macau. FWD Macau’s advocacy of social inclusion is in line with our spirit of benevolence. This collaboration helps service users become self-sufficient and encourages them to realise their potential. The online and physical stores provide a new long-term outlet for products made by service users, strengthening their connection with the community and improving their interpersonal, social and vocational skills, thus achieving social integration. We believe that this collaboration will help us further expand vocational training programmes which, in turn, will empower more service users and have a profound positive impact on the Macau community.”
