The Aubrey, an acclaimed Japanese Izakaya, renowned for its exceptional mixology, won big this awards season. It was ranked No. 10 in the 2024 Asia’s 50 Best Bars Awards, and Mr Devender Sehgal, The Aubrey’s Beverage Manager (second right), was ranked among the Top 100 most influential figures in the global bar industry for the first time, in the 2024 edition of Bar World 100.
Essence of Summer Pineapple Cocktails
To celebrate these achievements, The Aubrey launched a seasonal cocktail menu featuring three pineapple-flavoured drinks designed to complement any meal, or to enjoy at the start or end of the evening – expertly crafted by The Aubrey’s skilled bar team. The Cheek to Cheek blends Torikai, Plantation Dark, Crème of Coconut, Amontillado Sherry, and Japanese Pineapple Juice, offering a tropical and luscious drinking experience. Nago artfully combines Siete Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal, Japanese Pineapple Juice, Fresh Lime Juice, Tarragon Syrup, Fino Sherry, and Hachi Kokuto Shochu, delivering a harmonious fusion of fresh flavours. The third enticing option, Utogi, features Earl Grey Gin, Rice Shochu, Lemon Juice, Roasted Cumin Cordial, and Pineapple Juice.
Guest Bartender Shifts and exclusive Indian Omakase experience
The Aubrey was also thrilled to host a series of exclusive tastings and events to celebrate the 2024 edition of the awards. Five extraordinary bartenders were welcomed in July to take on premier guest shifts in anticipation of the awards. On 18 July, as host bar for the “50 Best Signature Sessions,” which came to Hong Kong for the first time, The Aubrey hosted an exclusive one-night-only takeover event featuring bartenders Prantik Haldar and Achintya Karale from Mumbai-based bar, The Bombay Canteen. The 25th floor of the Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong was transformed into an Indian Omasake where guests enjoyed delicious cocktails that explored Indian and Japanese flavours. The two highly anticipated evening sessions were sold out, but all guests were invited to indulge in six à la carte options from 7pm onwards.
